2. Any item may be placed on layaway. Our layaway policy can be found in the menu at left.

3. The Horse Soldiers ships via UPS and US Mail on a daily basis.

4. Any item on the web site that has an "ON HOLD"status is currently on layaway. If the item should become available, the Hold status will be removed. Once the purchase is complete, the status changes to "SOLD".

5. If you have an interest in an item that is currently on layaway, please contact us
and we will notify you if the sale is not completed.

6. The status of items that are sold or placed on layaway are updated on a weekly basis on Saturday mornings. The web site and our computerized inventory are not connected, so if you purchase an item and it is not marked Sold or On Hold for a few days, don't worry - it does not mean that your sale has not been posted. If another customer inquires, it cannot be sold.

7. If you wish to have a written or verbal appraisal performed by either Sam or Wes Small, we highly recommend that you make an appointment, or at the very least give us a call a day or two in advance of your visit to be sure that one of them will be available to assist you. There is a fee for a written appraisal, generally starting at $100.00 and up, depending upon the item to be examined and the length of time involved. Some verbal appraisals may also have a small fee.

8. We welcome digital photographs or scans via e-mail to help you identify an item, or if you have item(s) which you wish to sell or consign. Please read our e-mail photo policy below.

9. POLICY FOR SENDING E-MAIL PHOTOS

When sending e-mail photos, we must ask that you be sure that the photos are of a manageable size, a maximum of 10" wide on the widest size. Also, if sending numerous photos, please attach just a few to each e-mail. We are receiving an increasing number of extremely large photos which clog up our inboxes and make it difficult not only to see your photos but to respond to other inquiries and orders. Thank you for your assistance!

10. The Horse Soldier does maintain a "Want" list. If you are looking for specific types of item, advise us by e-mail, phone or fax regarding your interests and you will be added to the list. Please include a phone number or e-mail address by which we can most easily reach you. You may also fill out our "Request Item" form, which can be found
on the opening page of the web site.

11. The Horse Soldier Research Service is available for researching your ancestor's military service, etc. Further information can be found on our Announcements page, and on the opening page of the web site, where there is a online form which will be sent directly to our researcher.

12. The Horse Soldier will provide, upon request, a letter of authenticity on our company letterhead for any item purchased in the shop, by e-mail or phone if the value of the item is $100.00 or greater. This price limit does not apply in the case of special items such as those which are part of the Geiselman Collection, etc.
Letters are sent separately by mail and generally are done within 2 weeks of your receipt of the item, though in some instances it may take up to 4 weeks depending how busy the shop is, so we appreciate your patience.

13. Horse Soldier gift certificates are available for any amount. You may pay via credit card or send us a check or money order. We will mail the certificate directly to you, or to the individual that it is made out to, whichever best suits your needs.

14. Any shop closings will be noted on the "WHAT'S NEW" and "ANNOUNCEMENTS" pages. If you are trying to reach us in the winter months and receive no response by e-mail or phone, we are likely closed due to inclement weather.
When possible we will advise of this situation as well.
