$6,500.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 727-363

A wonderful example of the rare Rains 10 inch land mine. Has the remains of the pressure sensitive Rains torpedo fuse. To detonate the fuse a soldier, animal, or wagon would crush the thin brass dome top. Missing the soft lead safety cap. The iron side plug was most likely used for filling the powder or trip wire. Nice smooth body, no pitting. This rare land mine was found at Mobile, Alabama. Other examples recovered at Richmond, Petersburg, and Port Hudson.
