VERY NICE CONDITION LARGE SIZED UNION ARTILLERY SHELL JACKET

$3,250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 809-03

Standard issue dark blue wool shell jacket with red piping on collar and cuffs with red trim down the front and along the edges. Jacket has 12 General Service eagle buttons down the front with two buttons on each side of the collar and two at each functional cuff. Buttons are mostly plain backed and two have “SCOVILLE” backmarks. Corresponding buttonholes show light wear but are otherwise good.

The body of the jacket is in excellent condition. There is hardly any surface dirt and no mothing. Back center has both pillows. The piping and trim retain their original bright red color. Collar has the hook and eye closure.  [ad]

Interior is lined with a brown wool material and has a vertical pocket in the left breast. Sleeves are lined with white muslin. The area where the muslin sleeve lining meets the body lining is very good. Body lining is free of any damage. Right upper sleeve interior is stamped with a blurred inspector’s mark as well as four size dots. Left sleeve has no markings.

Overall the jacket is an excellent example of a Civil War Artillery shell jacket.
