Sandcast two-piece plate in excellent condition. Tongue is slightly convex with a good, clear “C’ and an “S” that has a flaw in the upper serif. Wreath has pronounced detail. Both pieces have a matching patina.

The leather belt is in nice condition. It was constructed by folding a piece of leather over buckram and then sewing it down the inside center. Stitching on this central seam has long since rotted away allowing one to see the buckram on the interior. Leather is holding in place very well.

The belt meas. approx. 1.50 inches wide x 30.00 inches long with a tooled line along each exterior edge. The end of the belt that holds the wreath is sewn in place while the end with the tongue passes through a brass adjustment buckle. Behind the tongue are two sliding leather keepers. The leather does have expert repairs to some small edge tears but overall its condition is very good. [ad]
