Captured US 12 lb. Spherical Shell with bullets clearly visible in the tan matrix. This shell used an extremely rare Wright time fuse which functioned similar to a Bormann time fuse. Confederate artillery used captured Union bullets to fill the shell making it a case-shot projectile. Visible are Williams cleaner bullets. Exterior of shell has moderate pitting. Center of shell matrix shows cylindrical cavity where a bursting chamber was to be inserted. Great for display with a nice wood base with a new information plaque attached.
