This Schenkl shell has a clean body with light pitting throughout. There is also some small amounts of material loss in the area of the nose and around the fuse hole. As is usually the case with a fired Schenkl the sabot is gone.
The fuse hole in the nose still retains a portion of the percussion fuse but this was drilled through to deactivate the shell. The cone at the base has the usual 7 raised lines and the knob at the very bottom has a small chip.
The rounded nose on this shell shows it to be the case shot variety.
Shell was meant for use in the 3-inch Ordnance rifle.
Area of recovery is unknown.
