This rebuilt canister round is the 4.52-inch variety that was meant for use in the 6 pound gun.

The body consists of twenty-four 1.25-inch iron canister balls that have been cleaned and glued together. At the base is a thick canister plate with a thinner one at top. Each plate meas. approx. 3.50-inches across.

It is known that the plates at top and bottom were recovered in a Confederate ammunition dump found during construction along Route 75 in Atlanta, Georgia however, the area of recovery for the canister balls is not known.

All the components of this rebuilt canister round were expertly cleaned and glued together in such a way that the color of all surfaces is uniform and no glue is visible.

This is a nice example of one of the most deadly and hard to find artillery projectiles of the Civil War. It would certainly enhance any artillery display.
