The "vent punch" was used when the "gimlet" failed, it could be used to drive any obstruction into the bore. This pick was used to clear the cannon vent after firing. Overall length is 22.25 inches. This is in excellent condition. Stamped on the tab is, “WATERVLIET  ARSENAL  U.S.” and “12  M” on the other side.  A large “D” is stamped over the word Watervliet for an unknown reason. The tab has a hole in the center and 1-inch square and the overall length is 22.25 inches.  This implement is clean with no corrosion or pitting. [jet]
