Brown leather Confederate artillery fuse pouch is in good condition. This is the leather pouch that went on the side of the Confederate artilleryman. It held his paper time fuses for firing the cannons.

The outer surfaces of the box exhibit light wear from age and use. The outer flap has light crazing throughout. Stitched latch-tab is split on one side. Lead finial is present on bottom. The inner flap is in nice shape and has both ears. Reverse is in good condition with both sling loops. The loops show heavier wear and cracking of the leather. Most stitching is tight, with the exception that the top left side is coming apart at the back corner of both the box and inner ear flap. Outer flap measures approx.  8 ¾” x 7”. Body of box measures approx. 6 ¾” x 6”.

This would make a fine addition to any Confederate or artillery collection.   [sm]
