Paper wrapper stenciled in large black ink letters, “5. S” and holds five Civil War fuses. Wrapper in excellent condition; original string holds the pack closed.
Recent research by several artillery collectors has led them to believe that the fuse packs were re-wrapped with surplus US and CS Civil War paper time fuses shortly after the war. Further research is needed to verify this. [ws]
