This pocket testament is the New Testament only and was printed by the New York Bible Society in 1861.
This testament is the style typically seen in soldier’s groupings but this one does not bear a soldiers name. There is some writing on the inside front cover and a period ink inscription in the back for a girl from Dudley, Massachusetts.
The interior of the book is in good shape but the exterior has seen better days. The cover on the spine is missing and the front cover is attached by its interior lining.
This is a good piece for re-enactor use or for filling a hole in a display of soldier’s personal items.
