This book is titled “THE STORY OF THE GREAT MARCH” by Brevet Major George Ward Nichols who served on Sherman’s staff. The volume is hardbound in brown cloth covers with gold embossed title on the spine. The front cover has the Headquarters badge of the Military Division of the Mississippi in gold. Boards show light shelf wear with moderate surface dirt, especially on the back cover. The binding is tight and it is a readable copy.
The interior has a foldout map at front that is lightly torn along inside edge. All the plates are present. Inside front page has former owners name with 1865 date. Title runs 394 pages.
