Burgundy blind-stamped, 9 x 6.5”, with gilt cover & spine lettering. Exhibits light wear at the extremities, frontispiece foxed, else VG & attractive. Mary Livermore was a highly influential member of the U.S. Sanitary Commission; a highly successful fundraiser who while touring numerous Union field hospitals and camps. Organizer of the 1863 Northwest Sanitary Fair at which Lincoln’s personal copy of the Emancipation Proclamation was sold for $10,000. Later a prominent post-war feminist and temperance advocate.
