By George Bancroft. Washington: Government Printing Office, 1866. 1st ed. 69pp. Brown blind-stamped cloth, measuring 9 x6”, with gilt cover lettering. A Harvard-educated scholar, author George Bancroft made his reputation as the author of an eight volume “The History of the United States”, a work highly regarded by Civil War-era America. This memorial address was delivered in congress on Lincoln’s birthday on Feb. 12th, 1866, the year following his assassination.

The book exhibits edge and corner wear to covers; much of the cover over the spine is missing. All pages are present, and binding is strong. Scattered light to moderate foxing throughout pages.
