This scarce book sketches the activities of the various companies raised from Jefferson County, VA., that served in the 2nd VA. Infy [Stonewall Brigade], and the 1st and 12th VA. Cavalry regiments. Also explains the troop movements and fighting commemorated by 25 Jefferson County monuments. These include Marker Number Nine, “Capture By Mosby—Sharp Encounter at Melvin’s Hill”; Marker Number Thirteen--“An Account by Col. Harry Gilmor of His Fight with Somers Near Summit Point.”; Marker Number 16, “Engagement at Myer’s Ford, Sunday Sept. 5, 1864—Blazer’s and Mosby’s Men.”; Marker Number Twenty, “Engagement between Early and Sheridan at Packet’s Farm.” It should added that Jefferson County, W.VA., borders Mosby’s Loudoun County Confederacy on the Virginia. Fine collectible.
