Available are the first 8 volumes of a 12 volume set of the award-winning series Naval Documents of the American Revolution (NDAR) presented by The Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) . These thousands of pages contain the authentic words of actors in the drama of the Revolution, through diaries, letters, petitions, and ships' logs, as well as muster rolls, orders, official reports, and newspaper accounts. The collection includes American, British, French, and Spanish points of view and gives voice to common seamen, civilians, women, and slaves as well as policy makers, political leaders, and naval and military officers.
NHHC's predecessor organization, the Naval History Division, published the first NDAR volume in 1964. It included a foreword penned by President Kennedy before his death. Succeeding volumes included forewords by Presidents Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, and George W. Bush. William Bell Clark, Dr. William James Morgan, and Dr. William Dudley preceded Dr. Michael J. Crawford as editors of the series. Dr. Crawford produced Volume 12 in 2014, the 50th anniversary of the series, with associate editor Dr. Dennis M. Conrad and assistant editors E. Gordon Bowen-Hassell and Mark L. Hayes.
The volumes available here were published between 1964 and 1980. All are in next to new condition. The only condition problem is a minor issue of discoloration to the covers, which is most likely from long term exposure to sunlight. Each volume is other wise clean with strong bindings and all pages intact.
