Richmond, VA: West & Johnson, 1862. 420pp., with forms. Re-bound in gray glazed cloth, measuring 7.5 x 5", with gilt spine lettering. Front eps contains following pencilled explanation of General Order attached opposite page one: "Harwell 385 / with general order [59] from district of Arkansas, issued at Camp Bragg, Dec. 1., 1863, pasted opposite page 1. This broadside not in Crandall, Harwell, or Allen. Parish locates 1 copy, in National Archives." Rear eps contains June 1972 stamp from "Meekman Bindery, Inc."

Attractive gray binding remains in fine condition. Text is foxed and yellowed throughout, while remaining entirely legible. General Order 59 is affixed with wax in three corners, and authorized by "Lt. Gen. Holmes." Rare and highly desirable original Confederate Army publication.
