The 5th NY Cavalry was mustered in the autumn of 1861. Attached to the Army of the Potomac, it scouted and participated in all the major campaigns and battles of that army through Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. During service it lost 96 men killed and mortally wounded and 222 by disease for a total of 326. This was one busy cavalry regiment, and distinguished . Solid collectible.    [jp]
