Text exhibits light water-staining, final 50 pages of vol. 2, lower right corner. Else VG. Entertaining reminiscences of a Royal Navy junior officer during the early phase of the Napoleonic Wars. Like Horatio Hornblower, his fictional Royal Navy counterpart, Lieutenant Crawford receives promotion to “commander” during the 1803 Peace of Amiens. Solid period memoir, handsomely rebound. Fine piece for Royal Navy aficionados.
