This is a second edition volume, printed by The Catholic Art Publishing Company in Philadelphia just a year after the original publishing in 1897. It was revised and enlarged. Blue, cloth covered hardback has the title in gold gilt on both the front cover and the spine. Front cover shows an image of an eagle with the U.S. flag and Daughters of Charity. Title page reads this is “a history of the labors of the Catholic sisterhoods in the late Civil War”. Many accounts are told of the Sisters nursing the wounded and dying soldiers.
Contains 21 illustrations including battle scenes, Union and Confederate leaders.
Book measures 7” x 9 7/8” x 1 3/8”. Text contains 406 pages. [sl]
