The full title of this volume is “LIGHTS AND SHADOWS OF ARMY LIFE OR, PEN PICTURES FROM THE BATTLEFIELD, THE CAMP AND THE HOSPITAL” by Reverend W.W. Lyle A. M. Chaplain of the 11th Ohio Volunteers and published by R. W. CARROLL & CO. of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1865.

The volume meas. approx. 5.50 x 7.50 inches and is hardbound with green cloth covers with embossed borders and central decorations. Title on spine is faint. Covers show average wear.

Interior runs approx. 403 pages with appendix. Listing officers of the regiment as well as enlisted men who were lost during service. Pages are clean and binding is weary but holding strong.

The 11th Ohio served in the 9th and 14th Corps and saw action at 2nd Bull Run, South Mountain, Antietam, Stones River, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Missionary Ridge and Resaca. During its service the regiment lost 4 officers killed and 148 enlisted men killed in action, died of wounds and disease.  [ad]
