These German cigarette books were collected by the German public before World War Two and in the early days of the war. Each album was profusely illustrated with photographs collected by the owner from cigarette packs and pasted into the album.

This particular album is titled “UNFERE REICHSMARINE: BILDER AUS DEM LEBEN DER MATROSEN” or “OUR REICH NAVY: PICTURES OF THE LIFE OF THE SAILOR.” Album contains 60 pages of text with onion paper between each page and there are approx. 272 glued in, mostly color, photographs of ships, sailors, lifeboats, torpedoes, mascots, flags, bakers, gunners, divers etc... Just about anything you can think of in relation to the German Navy is pictured. And of course Herr Schicklgruber (Hitler) makes his appearances as well. There are no photographs missing.

Album meas. approx. 11.25 x 11.50 inches and is in excellent condition throughout. Covers are made of a heavy canvas like material and are in good shape. Front cover has a light stain in the upper right corner only, otherwise covers show only light surface dirt from age and storage.  [ad]
