Not to be confused with the traditional Farmer’s Almanac, the Agricultural Almanac was a local pamphlet circulated mainly in Pennsylvania and the surrounding states.  The first Agricultural Almanac published was in 1825 by the John Baer and Sons Company in Lancaster, PA.  Baer being of German ancestry, became the spearhead of the company formally S. Kling and Baer and printed the almanac in both German and English.  Given the demographic of Lancaster in the early and mid 1800s, having a print in German was favorable.  Printing of the Agricultural Alamac was discontinued after World War II and would later be purchased to by Gerald Lestz for future publications.

The print identified here was published in 1859.  Similarly to the Farmer’s Almanac, this Agricultural Almanac outlines the different monthly lunar and celestial cycles in addition to giving long term weather forecasts.  Stories are throughout the pamphlet and include topics in horticulture, veterinarian medicine, and various means of daily life.  There is a section in the back designated for recipes and antidotes.  However, the Almanac appears to be incomplete and missing a few pages.  It is very worn and the corners of the pages are fragile.
