The exterior of this book is in excellent to near fine condition. Covers have little if any wear. Embossed in gold across the front cover is “HISTORY OF THE REGIMENT: ONE HUNDRED AND FORTIETH PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS, FIRST DIVISION, SECOND ARMY CORPS.” The gold lettering is near perfect. There is also a 1^st Division, 2^nd Corps badge on the lower right corner and the red in it is still brilliant. Spine is also stamped with the title with eagle and shield designs which are also excellent. The title runs 504 pages with roster and index. Fold out map inside front cover is present and in good condition. The interior of the book is fairly clean but unfortunately at some point the lower page edges got wet which left a faint stain. Approx. ¼ of the page surface is affected. The further you get into the book the fainter the stain gets until it finally becomes invisible around page 400.  The overall condition of this volume is so attractive that the stain is a minor annoyance. I do think it would be hard to find a nicer copy.
