Covers are dark blue with gold embossed title and red 1st Division, 2nd Corps badge on front and spine. Title on both the cover and spine are good as is the Corps badge on the front but the badge on the spine has faded some. The front and back gutters have some minor material loss. Upper left spine has small chip. Front and back signatures are good. Page edges have some light soiling but the interior is clean. Page 449 is crinkled otherwise the interior is good. Title runs 1096 pages with roster but no index. Numerous illustrations.

The 148th Pennsylvania served in the 2nd Corps of the Army of the Potomac from December of 1862 to June of 1865 and saw its share of the fighting. Deaths in the regiment from battle and disease totaled 397.
