An example of a free blown black glass, quart capacity Ale or Porter bottle circa 1830-1860. These types have been recovered from numerous tavern and military sites dating from the Mexican War through the Civil War. This specimen stands 9 ¼” tall and measures 3 ½” diameter across the base. This is an excavated item and shows wear (Heavy abrasions) on one half side of the surface and there are some minor chips present around the upper lip area.
