Produced by Scovill circa 1860's, this three piece coat size button intended for pre-war Maryland Militia staff officers. Button depicts state seal of Maryland: a shield with a fisherman, farmer, and eagle. BM: "SCOVILL MF'G CO, / WATERBURY." dm between two rings of dots. Very good condition, nice dull gilt patina. Minor wear to gilt. Shank present & straight. Albert's MD11A, Tice's MD200A1.
