These buttons were thought to be post-war until one was dug in a 3rd New Jersey cavalry camp from 1864. This is a high convex three-piece button with a lined face. The device is a horse head over a riband with N.J.R.C. over a plow.

Reverse has depressed mark that reads “SCHUYLER, H. & G. / NEW-YORK.” The base of the shank is surrounded by a ring of dots.

Button is in excellent condition. All gilt remains and there are no pushes or dents in the face. Shank is strong.
