Circa 1850's, three piece convex coat size button.  Features the state seal of Michigan - an elk, moose and an eagle, with a hunter inside the shield.  This type button was intended for officers of Michigan militia units.  BM:  "SCOVILL MG CO / WATERBURY" dm small letters, inner solid ring, lettering crowds the rim.  Shank present and straight.  Albert's MG4, Tice's MG205A2.  Nice, even, slightly dark gilded patina.
