Albert’s MD17Av. Button depicts a wreath with "BCG"; Baltimore City Guard was formed in 1858, the unit was forced to surrender when the Federals occupied Baltimore in 1861. Remnants of the unit apparently fought in other units as the buttons are found on battlefields outside of Baltimore.
Very nice condition gilt face; shank present. Backmark: "SCOVILL MF'G CO, / WATERBURY." with inner ring of dots. [ld]
