This clean, non-dug pike blade is a rare specimen as most available examples are in relic condition. The double-edged blade measures 12" with a 5 ½” downward curved blade extending from its base. The overall length (blade + tang) is about 18”. The smaller, hooked blade was designed to cut the reins and/or bridle of attacking cavalry causing them to lose control of their mounts. This blade would have been mounted on a long pole. This is an unused Confederate pike blade. [JET]
