Wooden frame with gilt accents houses a charcoal sketch of John Henry Neff. Neff is seated in Confederate uniform and appears to be gripping a Hall Model 1833 carbine in both hands. There is a brass plate screwed into the bottom of the frame which is engraved with, “JOHN HENRY NEFF, BROCK’S GAP RIFLES 1858”.

He was listed as absent for being sick on August 24, 1964 but his date of discharge is not known. Neff died in Harrisonburg, Virginia is buried in Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg.
