“LINCOLN & GETTYSBURG” PHOTO MONTAGE

$75.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 728-02

Matted and framed in black, measuring 30.75” x 11”, with reverse hang-wire.

This symbolic montage features an image of Abraham Lincoln by Alexander Gardner, flanked by winterscapes from Gettysburg’s Wheatfield Road and Cemetery Ridge. The Gardner image was taken in February 1865, shortly after the passage of the 13th constitutional amendment, which abolished slavery while   invoking the promise of Lincoln’s earlier Gettysburg address. The snow-whitened battlefield scenes saw some of the bloodiest fighting of July 2-3, 1863. Haunting and attractive, a fine photo linkage of Lincoln and Gettysburg.
