Early war bond issued from the first Confederate Capital at Montgomery, Alabama. The bond is dated May 1, 1861 and is number 244. The center design is the number “500” stamped on a green backing. The printer of this bond is not known. At the bottom are 14 coupons. The first was redeemable March. 1, 1865 and the last on Sept. 1, 1871. Upper right has a canceled 25cent stamp from Amsterdam. Bond is in good condition and all ink inscriptions are readable.
