Early war bond issued from the Confederate Capital at Richmond, Virginia. The bond is dated July 1, 1862, is numbered 3564, and signed by C.T. Jones. The lithograph design is of a girl holding a cornucopia and a caduceus, which is a recognized symbol of commerce and negotiation. The printer of this bond is Hoyer & Ludwig, Richmond, VA. Bond is in good condition and all ink inscriptions are readable. To the center left the embossed seal of the Confederate States of America is present.
Reverse of document has a handwritten inscription that reads, “RICHMOND AUGUST 15, 1862. PAY TO THE ORDER OF I.H. WEEDON” and is signed, “TREASURER C.S.”. [sm]
