An original piece of Southern State issued money, being a beautiful $1 note from the Merchants and Planters Bank, from the State of Georgia. Issued not long before the start of the Civil War, with a date of June 1st 1859.  Featuring central artwork of wagons, one loaded with cotton. Lower left corner has portrait of Benjamin Franklin.  By Danforth, Wright & Co., Philadelphia & New York. Plate letter, C.  Hand written serial number, 908 G. The printing is clear and the contrast good. Red overlays. Bold signature on bottom. No pin holes and no wrinkling, excellent bill. Back is blank. Centered slightly low. A typical early Southern state bill.    [jet]
