Mid war bond issued from the Confederate Capital at Richmond, Virginia. The bond is dated June 1, 1863 and is not numbered. The lithograph designs feature a bust view of James Alexander Seddon, C.S. Secretary of the Treasury. The printer of this bond is Evans & Cogswell, Columbia, SC. At the bottom are 20 coupons. The first was redeemable on June 1, 1864 and the last on June 1, 1883. Bond is in good condition and all ink inscriptions are readable. Small tear and hole are present at the center, with small chips on edges. Two torn stickers are on the reverse.

Inscriptions in pencil at the bottom read, “PRESENTED TO LINDSAY A. DEATON, JANUARY, 1894 / ‘CAPTURED IN RICHMOND, VA., APRIL, 1865 BY C.C.C.”  [SM]
