An original piece of Southern State issued money, being a beautiful $1 Virginia Treasury Note. Issued on July 21, 1862. Featuring central artwork of a milk maid. Lower left corner has portrait of Governor Letcher. By Hoyer & Ludwig, Richmond. Plate letter, C. Hand written serial number, 75871. The printing is clear and the contrast good. Red overlays. Bold signatures on bottom. No pin holes and no wrinkling, minor water stains on edges. Back is blank. Centered fairly well, side edges of frame trimmed. A typical early Southern state bill. [jet]
