Early war bond issued from the Confederate capital at Richmond, Virginia. The bond is dated April 30, 1862 and is No. 29. The center design appears to be an image of Confederate Secretary of the Treasury, John H. Reagan. The printer of this bond is B. Duncan of Richmond. At the bottom are 33 remaining coupons. The first was redeemable January 1, 1865 and the last on July 1, 1881. Bond is in good condition with some light surface dirt and spotting in areas, with one pin hole near the top right edge. Top right corner shows a Dutch stamp.
Frame is a dark stained wood with gilt accents. Measures 26” x 30”. Frame shows small scattered surface scratches and nicks. Reverse has loops for hanging and a note verifying the authenticity of the bond, stating that it was sold at Sotheby’s Auction in London in 1987. [sl]
Extra shipping required - $40 insured UPS east of the Mississippi, $60 west of the Mississippi (pick up of the bond at the shop is preferable. PA sales tax would be $11.70).
