Card meas. approx. 4.00 inches x 2.25 inches with an embossed GAR slouch hat and sword in the upper left corner. Script at center reads “M. H. BELL, CO.G, 10th N.H. REGIMENT.” Bottom left reads:
“P.C. STORER POST NO. 1
P. NAT. AIDE-DE-CAMP
P. JUDGE ADVOCATE, DEPT. N.H.”
Lower left reads “PORTSMOUTH, N.H.”
Meshach Bell was born in Kittery, Maine. He was 18 years old when he enlisted as a Private in Co. G, 10th New Hampshire Infantry on September 4, 1862. He went with his regiment to Virginia where they saw action at Fredericksburg. At some point he was promoted to Corporal. Bell was discharged for disability on March 13, 1863.
