The following named men employees of Ettnik Mfctors, are absolutely necessary to carry on our contract with the Confederate Govt. for cotton goods for the Army. Yrs.

Next is a list of 13 names with ages of men who are exempt. Their ages range from 16-47. At the bottom of the page in another hand the letter is endorsed:

Exempted from Militia duty for twenty days.

The endorsement is by Major Thomas Rowland who was a member of the Confederate Adjutant Generals office. This document is in very good condition.
