This post-Civil War, 3 1/8” x 4 3/8” advertisement, printed on green card stock, promotes Ford’s Hotel in Richmond, VA with its “Prices Greatly Reduced to suit the Times”; rates were $2.00, $2.50 and $3.00 per day.  The hotel, with one M.L. Ford as Owner and Proprietor, featured “Electric Bells” and had a capacity of 400 guests.  At verso is a list of “Places of Interest in and around Richmond” including The Capitol, Governor’s Mansion, General Lee’s Residence, Jeff. Davis Mansion, New African Church, Grave of A.P. Hill, Grave of J.E.B. Stuart, Tredegar IronWorks, Belle Isle, etc. etc.  “THIS SPLENDID NEW HOTEL is situated in the heart of the city, and on the most fashionable thoroughfares, and adjoining the beautiful CAPITOL PARK…. Is newly and elegantly furnished throughout….”

Card is in good condition, with scattered light areas of staining; minor wear to corners.  The number “2” is written in period ink on the reverse.
