Dated July 22, 1876. One page, measuring 7.5 x 4.75", with blue circular stamp - "Post Fort Vancouver" - appearing on lower margin. By command of General Sherman. Slightly yellowed with two tiny punch holes appearing on left margin.
This piece is the official military printing of a congressional act providing for the construction of military posts on the Yellowstone and Muscleshell Rivers, as recommended by Gen. Sheridan in 1875, in the Montana and Dakota Territories, that was approved July 22, 1876, a month following the Custer debacle at the Little Big Horn. [In other words, a month too late].
Intriguing post-Little Big Horn army document.
