Document is a pre-printed form from the Treasury Department that is filled out in period ink. Form reads, ‘Treasury Department, Second Auditor’s Office, November 19, 1863. I certify that I have examined and adjusted the claim of Charles Anderson Decd. Private Co. B 11th Wisconsin Vols and find there is due him from the United States One Hundred and Forty Four dollars and Seven cents, being for pay from July 1st to September 9th 1862 and for Bounty act July 22, 1861”. The document goes on to read that Anderson’s father was collecting the pay. The reverse has handwritten information which was written and signed by a notary public.

Research produced a Charles Anderson in Co. B, 11th Wisconsin, listed with the alternate name of John Anderson. The John Anderson who served in that company has details that correspond with the facts as stated in this document; he is shown as having enlisted on 10/29/61 as a Private, and died of disease on 9/9/62 at Oldtown, AR.

Document measures 12 ½” x 8 ½”. There are three horizontal fold lines. There is a very small tear at the lower left side. Ink is total legible and document is very clean.  [sm]
