When President McKinley was assassinated in 1901 Vice-President Theodore Roosevelt assumed the Presidency. In the 1904 Presidential election Roosevelt was re-elected.

In order to certify the election the Electoral College had to meet. Before that could occur the Electors had to be certified for each state.

In 1904 California had 10 electors and all 10 would be casting their vote for the Republican Party. This printed document is dated December 9, 1904 and is signed by Governor Pardee. The document certifies the electors listed enabling them to cast their votes. Of interest is among the electors listed is Ulysses S. Grant, Jr.

Document has three horizontal fold lines but is otherwise in very nice condition with the original gold seal still attached. Item is in a modern black frame that meas. approx. 17.25 x 25.00 inches. There is also an engraved brass plate explaining what the document is.
