PROVISONAL CERTIFICATE OF OWNERSHIP --- THE SERGEANT RUDOLF MERZ, 5th INFANTRY COMPANY, DETACHMENT 6, IN THE NAME OF THE LEADER AND REICH CHANCELLOR, I AWARD FOR 25 YEARS FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE WEHRMACHT THE SERVICE AWARD 1ST CLASS. 17 MAY 1945.
The document is signed by a Lieutenant Colonel who was also Commander of Recruiting District Mannheim. Document bears the eagle and swastika stamp.
Overall the framed item meas. approx. 11.75 x 15.00 inches while the document itself meas. approx. 8.00 x 12.00. There is a horizontal chip at lower left and a closed tear at upper left. All print is strong and the eagle and swastika stamp is strong.
It is interesting that these documents were still being issued by lesser German officials after Hitler was dead and the war over. [ad]
