Document is dated March 24, 1862 and states that Captain F. A. Briscoe delivered 75 bushels of corn to Captain Fleming Saunders at Mount Jackson.

Document meas. approx. 7.75 x 9.75 inches and is very clean and in excellent condition with only two faint horizontal fold lines.

Reverse is marked with a document number and date.

Little is known about F. A. Briscoe other than that he enlisted as a Major in the Confederate staff service.

Captain Fleming Saunders was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in Company D, 42nd Virginia Infantry on May 31. 1861 and was appointed Brigade Quartermaster for what would become Jones Brigade, Gordon’s Division, 2nd Corps on September 1, 1861. He was present throughout the war.  [ad]
