George W. Keith was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in Company H, 2nd South Carolina Rifles on May 1, 1862. He resigned on August 5, 1862.

The 2nd South Carolina Rifles saw action at 2nd Bull Run, Chancellorsville, Wauhatchie, Wilderness, North Anna, Cold Harbor and Fort Harrison.   [ad]
