John Meredith Strother was born in Richmond on March 29, 1838. He attended the University of Virginia and taught there. He served as a captain and chief clerk in the Confederate Treasury Department. He died October 1, 1871 and is buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia. [ad]
