The Confederate Government of Wythe County, Virginia issued this allotment check, numbered 92 on the back and dated Jan. 15 or 16, 1864 to Sarah Smith in the amount of twelve dollars for the family of Jacob Smith, a soldier in the 63^rd Virginia Regiment.  Signed by M. S. Steefy, Comr. 6 District.  Countersigned Mrs. Sarah Smith.
